When an announcement for hiring of officers or dispatchers is posted on the City of Winchester website, the Winchester Police Department's Facebook page and/or local media outlets (newspaper, TV, radio), the applicant should apply per directions of the agency and/or the City of Winchester.
The Winchester Police Department requires that all applicants:
Be at least 21 years of age (dispatchers be at least 18)
Possess US citizenship
Have a high school diploma or GED
Possess a valid driver's license
Pass a background check and be fingerprinted
Have no felonies on their record
Pass a written exam
Pass an oral interview
Pass a polygraph exam
Pass a medical exam
Pass a physical fitness test (police officer applicants only)
Pass drug screen
Complete DOCJT Basic Academy (police and dispatch applicants have their own academy)
